If you’re looking to get that family member or friend who has always been wanting a board something special, we’ve got you covered. The shop is also fully stocked, with a recent arrival of wetsuits and the thrift store brimming with quality finds that are sure to make you stand out at any Christmas party. As you shop though, we have a couple points for you to remember that will help you pick out the best possible gear for the person you’re shopping for. When you’re buying a wetsuit, board, or anything else that has a specific size-make sure that it’s appropriately fitted to the body of the person who will be using it. For example, you wouldn’t get a 5’10 shortboard for a person 6 feet tall who recently started surfing. To go further, you would not get that same person a size small wetsuit. Getting gear that reflects the skill level and the overall size of the person who will be using the gear is so, so important. (It also goes without saying that if you’re buying something from the thrift store, get the person’s size in advance).
Also worth keeping in mind is that if the person you’re shopping for either surfs in the winter or wants to try to, get them warm gear. A summer wetsuit won’t cut it in the frigid waters of Maine during the winter months. Additionally, people surfing in the winter need to be equipped with booties and gloves for extra protection.
